MISSION STATEMENT The mission of Theatre A La Carte is to create quality theatre productions and related programs that nurture artists, students, technicians, administrators and audience members, and that help to develop each individual's creative potential using the skills and imaginative possibilities of theatre and the performing arts. ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICY Theatre A La Carte shall follow the spirit and intent of all federal, state and local anti-discrimination law and is committed to equal opportunity. To that end, the Board of Directors will not discriminate against any individual in a manner that violates the law. Theatre A La Carte is committed to providing equal opportunity for all staff and volunteers without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, political affiliation, or any other characteristic protected under federal, state or local law. Theatre A La Carte will not tolerate any form of unlawful discrimination. All participants are expected to cooperate fully in implementing this policy. Any individual who believes that this policy may have been violated should report the possible violation to the Board President. If Theatre A La Carte determines that a violation of this policy has occurred, it will take appropriate disciplinary action against the offending party, which may include dismissal from the current project and exclusion from future projects. ANTI-HARASSMENT POLICY Theatre A La Carte is committed to providing a work environment for all individuals that is free from sexual harassment and other types of discriminatory harassment. Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and to show respect for their co workers. Theatre A La Carte’s policy prohibiting sexual harassment and other types of unlawful discriminatory harassment applies to all staff, volunteers and others who have a relationship with Theatre A La Carte which enables Theatre A La Carte to exercise some control over the individual’s conduct in places and activities that relate to the work of Theatre A La Carte. It is against Theatre A La Carte’s policy for participants to engage in verbal or physical conduct that denigrates or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual because of his or her race, color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, or other protected category. Any individual who believes that this policy may have been violated should report the possible violation to the Board President. VOLUNTEER CODE OF ETHICS Theatre a La Carte is a volunteer-based organization, and recognizes the critical role of its volunteers. Theatre A La Carte is committed to providing a positive, nurturing environment in which its volunteers are able to exercise and develop their talents and skills. Theatre A La Carte expects its volunteers to uphold the following ethical standards: • Perform your service to the best of your ability, maintaining the theatre’s best interests as your primary focus. • Abide by Theatre A La Carte’s anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies. • Always strive to create a positive, upbeat, constructive environment, in which each individual is treated with tact, respect, kindness and consideration, regardless of their position, status or abilities. • Always work to resolve conflict, never to create it. • Respect the authority of those placed in supervisory positions. • Do not use the organization’s proprietary information for personal benefit or for the benefit of any other person or entity, or obtain any improper personal benefit by virtue of participation with the organization. • Never be under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances while volunteering with Theatre A La Carte. • Possess a valid driver’s license and required vehicle insurance when driving on behalf of Theatre A La Carte. • Exercise due care regarding all facilities and equipment, and strive to leave things in better condition than you found them. • Serve as an ambassador for Theatre A La Carte to the community at large.
